Connected information supporting maintenance, operations and outage planning.

The challenge
The client was developing a reference application drawing on information from multiple authoritative business systems. The opportunity was to use connections across that information to provide additional insights and improve maintenance and operating decisions.
The application
The client's application combined a graph database, machine learning and large language models to connect information and surface insights beyond those available through the existing data pipelines alone.
Sand Hill's contribution
Sand Hill participated in the data-mapping effort alongside the owner and its IT, maintenance and operations teams. Our contribution focused on identifying where newly accessible information and insights could improve business processes, maintenance and operating decisions.
The achieved outcome
The client experienced a substantial improvement in overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Sand Hill's contribution centered on understanding the data systems and identifying where their information could support business value.
The work continuing
Sand Hill is helping the client develop additional systems to apply that information to outage planning and execution. Improved outage efficiency is an objective of this phase; its results are still to be established.
How this work connects
The contribution extends across technology, organizational capability and the development of new systems. Better information supports operating decisions and the ability to create more value from existing assets, connecting the work to growth. Applying those insights through business processes also links the technology effort to organizational transformation. The continuing outage phase develops that capability further.
